Organizing UKLEF events

UKLEF members can organize two types of UKLEF events: a colloquium at the BAAL Annual Meeting, and a seminar held at their own institution.

BAAL colloquium

A colloquium at the BAAL Annual Meeting is normally a half- day with 4 or 5 presentations. The colloquium is submitted by UKLEF. UKLEF members who would like to propose a colloquium should contact Meetings Secretary Frances Giampapa well in advance of the Annual Meeting in September, and submit a draft proposal no later than November in the year before the Meeting. Proposals should explain how they relate to the theme of the BAAL Annual Meeting and provide details of the colloquium organizers, chair and contributors.

UKLEF seminar

UKLEF encourages members to organize seminars for UKLEF and BAAL members at their institution. They should relate to linguistic ethnography. Please browse through past events to get an idea of what these events tend to look like. If you’d like to submit a proposal for a seminar, please complete the proposal form and send it to Frances Giampapa . Below you will find answers to frequently asked questions about UKLEF seminars. Please don’t hesitate to contact Frances if you have any other queries.
